Summary:

Body shaming is the act of saying something negative or bad about someone’s body. It is a big issue in many developing countries. Adolescents are the victims of bullying or mockery. However, proper knowledge regarding body shaming is essential for preventing this issue. This study will assess the knowledge, consequences, and effects of body shaming among adolescent girls in the Sylhet district.This study will be conducted through a cross-sectional approach among school-going adolescent girls who are enrolled in three different schools. The period will be six months extending from January 2023 2023 to June 2023. A total of 425 girls in the study place will be approached for an interview. Informed written consent will be obtained before participation. Data collection will be conducted through face-to-face interview with a semi-structured questionnaire. The interview will require approximately 10 min to be completed. To ensure anonymity and confidentiality, the names of the participants will not be collected, and only the principal investigator will have access to the collected data. At the end of the data collection, the raw data will be extracted and imported into statistical software for analysis. The data will be analyzed by SPSS v-23 and will be expressed as tables, charts, and figures. Ethical clearance will be sought from the Ethical Review Committee of SOMCH, and the research will be conducted following the recommendations of the Declaration of Helsinki.
