Summary:

There is scarcity of research on the dietary patterns and physical activity (sitting time) of Bangladeshi population. And furthermore, dietary pattern and the development of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is yet to be explored. Therefore, the present study will be investigate the association between dietary patterns and NAFLD as well the association of NAFLD with sitting time.

Patients and A case-control study will be conducted in Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU). Formal ethical approval will be sought from the IRB of BSMMU. Diagnosed cases of NAFLD will be considered as case and similar number of healthy individuals will be considered as control. Both ‘Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ)’ and ‘Multiple pass 24 hour recall’ questionnaires will be used to get a more precise dietary pattern. Sedentary behaviour questionnaire ‘SIT-Q-7d’ will be used to estimate the sitting time. Informed written consent will be obtained before participation and Ethical measures will be taken in accordance with the current Declaration of the Helsinki. Data analysis will be done following completion and verification of the data and statistical software SPSS will be used during data analysis.

It is expected that the result will reveal the potential relationship among dietary habit, sitting time and NAFLD.
